Lang Lang petitions for more police, security
1 min read

The Lang Lang community is petitioning the state government to act to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour in the town.
Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath has sponsored the email petition to parliament calling for a greater frontline police presence in the town and provision of crime prevention tools including closed circuit television (CCTV).
She said residents told her crime was increasing and latest crime statistics reflected the lack of frontline police in the area.
"The one officer police station in Lang Lang was closed some years ago and police attendance restricted to a few hours each week".
Ms Bath congratulated the local people for their stance stating that rural and regional communities were paying the price with a police resourcing problem across Victoria.
She said locals and Cardinia Shire councillor Kaye Cameron had told her there was potential to install CCTV systems in public places in the town but would require public funding.
